Archives

Typically, archives are repositories of documents from the past. Rather than accounts of this meeting in 1976 or that military campaign in 1776, the archives on Making the Past Present are the repository of my earlier forays into writing about history and traveling. These historically-infused accounts of my travels in Europe date from two undergraduate study abroad programs in which I participated. My summer at the University of Cambridge in 2014 introduced me to the early history of Britain, particularly the Anglo-Saxons and their culture. My May mini-term in Berlin in 2015 was part of a unique study abroad program at the University of Tennessee: all the participants took a semester-long course on the history, culture, and urban landscape of Berlin, before traveling together to Berlin for ten days of site visits, which were related to student-developed semester projects.
